It's well into 2008 and the secrets Rare are hiding are starting to heat up! There are some fantastic games coming out in just a matter of time. We all know about Banjo Kazooie on the Xbox 360 which we hugely anticipate, but what about talk of a new Perfect Dark? There are also rumors about a number of XBL titles in the works and finally new franchises for the Xbox 360. The storm's just started, and Rare-Extreme's got you covered! First off, Rare's set up a lovely movie player up on their site. The 10th anniversary edition of Scribes featuring many neat tidbits and a letter from yours truly. Aww, this is a special update for me- Rare’s dug though their musical archives to give us over an hour of music bits & pieces from Kameo: Elements of Power, including themes from the Cinema Trailer, an alternative Trainer Hut tune and quite a few things you won’t even recognize! It should also be noted that the latest Pantsboard is closed for submissions, and you should keep an eye on this spot for more interesting developments to come. (sooner than later and I mean it this time!) Rareware.com for the lengthy Kameo medleys, lest I forget…

1 Bear, 5 Rumors: Rare’s teasing their fans?! Never. Nope. No way in- The latest torment (In a long line of nasty torments) from our beloved Rare actually gives out the plot for the new Banjo game for the Xbox 360. But you’re got to dig it out from five different possibilities. Go to Rare’s site, or our awesome forums with the thread Bearing the same name to see the rumors for yourself!
Rare working on X-mote?: Strong rumors stemming from insiders at mtv.com tell us how Rare and Microsoft are working on a Wii-remote-like device for the Xbox 360. The software interface is rumored to be worked on by Rare, including avatars designed to work with certain games. With Rare admitting that we’d have another game other than Banjo 360 and Viva Pinata DS before year’s end, and the previous rumor of a Xbox Vision supported game by Rare… This rumor might have something to stand on. If more about this rumor develops, Rare-Extreme will be sure to keep you informed!
Nearly 2 Virtural Weeks of VP music: Three more MP3’s have been put up for download on Rareware.com from the award-winning Xbox 360 and PC game, Viva Pinata. Be sure to visit to get your own electronic copies of Day 9, Day 10, and Day 11. When you’re done with that, be sure to bug them via Scribes to upload all of the Romance Dance MP3’s, or just your favorites. I’m sure MR. Scribes’ would love to hear from ya! >;)
Pants Full of LIES- and 1 Truth: Regarding the “1 Bear: 5 Rumors”, after checking out our forums to see what others have to say regarding the wild rumors regarding Banjo 360’s storyline, send your half-baked theories to Mr. Pants at the Pantsboard found only at Rareware.com so the Banjo Team can have a few laughs at our expense. 65 out of 100’s Darn Fine: Develop100.com has published a list of the (currently) most successful game studios based on their retail rake-in in the UK market. It’s pretty darn great if you pause to consider that Rare has NOT RELEASED A GAME IN OVER A YEAR. Ha! It’s good to be king!
And now that you’re all caught up, I’m going to read a book or something now that my Xbox 360’s broken for the 4th time. I guess the copies of Tetris Evolution, Beautiful Katamari, and Culdcept Saga will have to wait… *sigh* Check back often, as you never know what Rare might do next...

Bungie barely beats Rare…

Last Wednesday four of Rare’s Testing Krew challenged select Bungie Blokes to three rounds of the popular sci-fi first person shooter Halo 3. It was a very close match-up- but alas, our boys lost. You can read the run-down of the epic battle at Bungie.net and you can watch it personally using your Xbox Live connection and your copy of Halo 3. (See Bungie’s site for more details regarding viewing specifics.) So, a game featuring huge space apes with hammers and jetpacks? Sounds like a game Rare would make, eh?
