Story:

I really don't think I need to waste my time describing the story because chances are you already know it. The story is great, the dialogue is great. My only real complaint is the amount of classic Banjo characters. There really aren't many. Just the main ones, Blubber, Boggy, Jolly and Mr. Fit. This isn't really much of a complaint, but it seems they got a little bit lazy by reusing the same couple of characters for every level. Like where's Gobi? Is he dead? Is he really THAT old now? Another thing this game was lacking in the story department was memorable new characters. Off the top of my head, the only new characters I can think of are L.O.G, Pikelet and Trophy Thomas. And in my opinion, the only memorable character here is L.O.G. Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but that disapointed me a little.

Graphics:

The game looks incredible. The blocky characters (gasp) actually look good? Believe it or not they do. The backgrounds look even better. I've heard people talk about issues with the framerate but I haven't noticed any of those yet. My only real complaint is the text size, which they'll be fixing soon anyways.

Sound:

I'm gonna go against the crowd here and say that I'm not a huge fan of the games music. The remixes are incredible, but I don't really like the new tunes so much. They just don't seem to have that old school Rare charm that the old music had. I dunno, maybe I'm crazy. But it's my opinion. So live with it. As far as the sound effects go, pretty standard. Most of the new voices sound good. But I'm gonna nitpick again and say that I wish Grunty kept her old sound effects. Those were priceless and these new ones... not so much. I never once heard her go "YOW" in the classic voice when you attacked her. Just listen to both of them and you'll see what I mean. Overall, music = ok, sound effects = good.

Gameplay:

This is where it all matters. Does the game play well? The answer: for the most part, yes. The game can really be divided into 2 sections, Showdown Town and The Game Globes. In Showdown Town it's very similar to the old Banjo games, you'll be spending quite a bit of your time there talking to people, collect crates for vehicle parts, and collecting notes. It's all good stuff, and it's like the old Banjos cause you progress by beating Grunty in special Grunty challenges in the worlds. Gruntys parts upgrade your crappy trolley. So Showdown Town is one of my favorite worlds in a Banjo game. But does the rest of the game hold up? Unlike most people who reviewed the game, I thought the challenges were fun to play. And some of them could really test your brain to get the T.T. score. However, by the time you get to the Terraium of Terror, it all starts to look the same. Either shoot, race or carry ######. So I think there could of been more of a variety. I also think they didn't use the vehicle building concept to its full potential. You can basically use the same kinds of vehicle for almost every kind of challenge. And then there was the "LOG's Choice" challenges where you use a pre-made vehicle. These are pointless because they go against the point of the game. Building the vehicles and dicking around in the Test-o-Track is a lot of fun though, especially with friends. I haven't really played the multiplayer except for the Test-o-Track. But I'm sure its like Tooie's multi. Some of the games rock, some of the games are ok, and some of them suck. As for exploring the worlds, the vehicles take away from there massive size, and they feel really small once you get the wings and propellers, cause you can fly across them in minutes. Add to the fact they're really open, and they're not much fun to explore. One final note. The last boss was really disapointing. It wasn't hard, at all. It wasn't epic, at all. And it felt like 3 other grunty challenges in the game.

Conclusion:

Does it have its flaws? Of course it does. Is it as good as Kazooie or Tooie? Of course not. Is it an awesome game nonetheless? Yes. Every Banjo fan should at least play it. Despite all of the little flaws and nitpicks I just went over about this game, I really do love it and hope that it sells well enough to make a Banjo 4.

Final Score 9/10

what about mumbo, humba wumba, klungo, king jingaling and bottles? there were heaps of old characters. And I actually think T.T is pretty cool smile.gif

Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is awesome like I said before I think this game is better than Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie. The only problems I have with the game is the text ( obviously to notice if you have a standard TV ) and there weren't any bosses ( except for Patch and Gruntilda. )

I give this game a 9/10.

The game hasn't been released in Australia yet...

Any chance of some spoilers? Like what the new functions of the old characters are...

I give it a 7/10 because a. it just doesn't have the magic that the first two games produced and b.they strayed from the platforming which was what gave banjo kazooie its charm. and c. they should have stuck with the beta name banjo buildie.and last but not least d. no tooty:(

Why the hell do you come on these forums?
everyone is obviously having a great time with this game but pre release you were convinced that this game would be ###### and the fans would be upset and disappointed, and even after everyone on this forum is having a great time with it you can't seem to accept the fact that it is actually a decent game. Perhaps you're just in denial.

Hi I'm new.

Personally I don't really like N&B I've certainly played it though, but there are a number of things I think it lacks that make it not as good as the originals.
Remeber the first time you ever entered freezezy peak, remember walking down that little hill and then seeing the huge snowman and the rest of the level, well I don't think that I got that feeling EVER in N&B mainly because once I had a plane I could simply fly over the entire level. Making exploration obsolete really.
The second is the characters have lost their charm, they all mainly serve as entrances to the tasks which get extremely boring after about the 5th race, carry or shootout.
Another thing is where have all the hard to reach jiggies gone? Remeber that one in the ships engine room of rusty bucket bay? That single task was harder than the entire N&B game in my opinion.
Mr. Patch is my favourite boss smile.gif so I was glad to see him but he was virtually the only boss in the whole game.
And I can't think of anything else now but I'll get there...

At least you stated your opinion in a respectfull way, not like Rads, who basically says anyone who likes Nuts and Bolts is a retarded 5 year old.

does anyone else notice that there seem to be an increasingly large number of new members with 10< posts who don't like this game?
