Well, it's been over a week since we've had one of these so lets have another one. =D
Well i've got into my stoner metal alot recently, i've been listening to Bongzilla and Atomic Bitchwax a fair bit.
I've actually discovered possibly one of my favourite metal albums ever and it came out this year

Look up "Houses of the Unholy" by Church of Misery if you haven't already.
Now gimme some good bands to listen to.

I've kinda' been on a desperate search for new artists, as I already have the entire discographies from most of the big metal bands (Metallica, Slayer, etc), so now I've wasted a lot of money on random crap like Trivium and CKY hoping to find gold.

I really like Bloodhound Gang. They sing some funny songs, but they are pretty nasty too. One of their cds has a naked midget on the cover.

Seeking Metal? Try Metal-Archives.com. It isn't called the Metalhead's bible for no reason, if you need new music? You browse the forums or search by genre and from there your own view on the user submitted reviews. If you want real heavy metal, this is the site best suited to showing you the real stuff. It really has allowed me to expand my taste in the metal scene exponentially.
I've been cranking a lot of Mustach lately, as well as Spiritual Beggars (both stoner metal

check em out RWS). Songs: Angel of Betrayal, Black City, Double Nature, Misty Valley.
I've also a really deep love for Corrosion of Conformity (the albums from Blind onward.) Pretty much one of the essential metal bands I'd say

Even though it came out over 2 months ago, I'm still jerking it hard to Dream Theater's new album. That and just switching back between a couple of older albums from other bands. Most of my favorite bands have already put out new albums recently, or are in the writing/recording process, so music for me has been pretty dull while I wait for new tunes.

For metal-archives also.
Do you know any bands who sound similar to Church of Misery's latest album? I can't get enough of that but it's only 8 songs and they go by so quickly

Haven't heard their new record but try:
Electric Wizard
Cathedral
Sleep
Reverend Bizzare
Eyehategod
Sonic Flower
Iron Monkey
Acid King
And if you like retro sounding Doom:
Saint Vitus
Trouble
Witchfinder General
Graveyard
Candlemass
The Obsessed
Pentagram
Blue Cheer
Pagan Altar
Solitude Aeternus

Jimbo suggests many of the bands I was about to. Eyehategod might be just up your alley especially.
As for Church of Misery sounding? Hmm... I'd have to point you towards to some Earthride, one of the most sludgy doom bands I have heard, and the fellows voice just screams drug strung out rockstar ahaha.
I've also gotten into a lot of Ayreon lately, mech master, if you're into the whole progressive metal bit give the album 'The Human Equation' a listen. I also highly recommend Agalloch.
Found some interesting metal last night, they go by the name The Gloominous Doom. They are a Ska-Death Metal band, and damn.... It really sounds great.

Ha it's funny I actually just saw your sig with all of the Ayreon plays. I was going to give you props for liking them, since no one I really know other than me is really into them. I haven't heard any entire albums from them, and I've been meaning to, but they aren't one of those bands you just sorta play on your ipod while you're in the car driving to school/work or that sort of thing. You sorta have to sit down and really listen to them and get into the music, and I just haven't had the time to devote to their whole discography yet.

Indeed. I love metal artists who collaborate with several others and then release an album, less chance of getting bored by the end of the record. He is indeed a genius! I also heard he knows not how to read music, I would of never guessed by the masterpieces he's put out. Find some time to really sit down and listen to them Mechy, you will not regret it.
Folkearth is also another band that has an ever changing band line up, much like Ayreon. But they have folk influences in their metal along side Black metal. It's actually a really great band.

I've been listening to the White Stripes actually. Usually I don't listen to stuff I see advertised excessively, but my friend told me they were good so I gave them a listen and they aren't bad. Another band I like is matt and kim, a really upbeat band with only a drummer and a pianist, search daylight by Matt and Kim, one of my favorites.

Try some Spirit Caravan, The Obsessed, or Saint Vitus, anything with Scott 'Wino' is golden in the doom/stoner metal realm.
Some Black Pyramid, Blood Ceremony (Think Jefferson Airplane meets Black Sabbath, pretty much a female fronted Folkier Black sabbath, very enjoyable.), even some Blind Dog (start with their first, The Last Adventure of Captain Dog) are all excellent top notch bands.

I'm personally getting ready for the new Alice In Chains album to drop on the 29th! Everyone better buy this album! Whether you're a fan or not! I promise you a great album that WILL grow on you like the Plague. Seems it's going to be a true Alice Album from what we've all been hearing and just as solid as the old material even without the great vocalist that is the late Layne Staley. This following song is dedicated to his life, and death.
Don't believe me, just take a gander at one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKaX6eYJHzg...re=channel_pageThe album version will have Elton John backing up the song on Piano. Perfect!

Hey guys, I haven't posted here in quite a long while haha. I've been listening to a really wide range of music recently, mostly because of the lively university life I've been living. The majority of it has been metal and orchestral/soundtrack stuff though, here's some of it:

I've been listening to these bands nonstop for a few days:
Arghoslent - Hornets of The Pogrom: incredibly racist death metal with highly infectious riffs.
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence: classic death metal with over the top solos and jazz breakdowns.
Circle Takes The Square - As The Roots Undo - elitist emo with thrash, punk, and progressive influence.
Shining - suicidial progressive black metal band that excutes the music very well.
All excellent music.

Listen to Converge (the albums other than Jane Doe would be You Fail Me, or When Forever Comes Crashing). btw, Ross, Sikth is awesome.

Yeah it was a complicated album but it worked, the time signatures in their songs were pretty awkward and the riffs weren't catchy but there was something about that and the vocals skat style which made it all work together. Plus the title of the album is awesome too.
Their second album just felt really simple, like their style had changed but it hadn't evolved - it went down a step if anything.
And of course it's a big deal, knowing people gets you into the circle of fame when you have a band

The title is SO DAMN LONG but it's epic. omg I love the track with the poetry in it.

You just reminded me. And yeah, in a nutshell, second one was too simple. The style in a song was pretty constant in a way, and the vocalists didn't sound as crazy. WHY???
