5 days to go; Vistas days are numbered (zing).
Whose a day one purchase? I definitely want it but I have to invest in a bigger portable hard drive to back up my more valuable stuff which will cost me a bit. My work also is offering a free copy of Home Premium if I do these training modules for it, but as with any redemption system, it'll take forever to receive. So I'm torn to either buy it day one and sell the free one at a loss, or wait until it arrives to me for free (my work is the only company that has this opportunity apparently, which is an epic lulz at our competitors).
I'm thinking I can deal with Vista until it arrives and save myself 300 Australian dollars. Discuss what your plans are.

I wouldn't mind getting it, though it hasn't been fully tested with Boot Camp yet. Maybe get it to upgrade my desktop, which needs a little 'pick-me-up'.

It might be coming with the new computer I'm investing in, I'll have to see.

Vista was never bad, in my opinion. It has never not been able to do something I want it to. How good it is just depends on what kind of PC you're looking for.
i.e. You don't go out and buy a $200 e-Machine if you are looking forward to playing Crysis on maxed settings.
But for the basic needs, there are worse things out there than Vista.

I dont have a beef with Vista yet so untill I do I'm not gettin Windows 7, although I may be able to get it free I'd have to ask if they had the Best Buy deal back why my dad bought my laptop.

I ordered some new parts for my computer, nothing amazing, AMD X2 6000, 4 gig DDR800 ram and an Nvidia 9800. I'm thinking with this overhaul of my old gaming PC I will give windows 7 a go. I've got 2 friends with it already, and they like it....but they both liked vista too.

I've been using the Windows 7 RC for a few months and it is wonderful I must say. You don't realise that Vistas even bad until you start using Windows 7. It's so much faster.

I'm gonna upgrade as soon as i find a good price. Vista is so slow & uses up too much memory.

I got a laptop this year with Vista and haven't had one issue. XP on the other hand has given me some problems in the past.

Got the 30 quid update thing, I can't complain it's pretty nice. I didn't have any major issue with Vista and 7 is like Vista with a new taskbar and all of the annoying things ironed out.

Is there a basic rundown of features explaining why we should upgrade to Win7?

It's practically what Vista should've been from the start, although the task bar has a fresh coat of paint and some of the quick tools like "Snap" are pretty cool.

I don't know, but I will say there is a big difference in the speed things get done. That's the main good thing about it for me.
