Full Version: Karas thoughts on the great Nuts and Bolts debate

So I finally bought the game after realizing I bought every other Banjo game and vehicles or no it cant be as bad as Banjo Pilot.

So the opening was great I laughed quite a few times even my very skeptic non Rare fan boyfriend enjoyed the opening. The random collecting was my favorite part XD Then I get to the game play, the first thing I realized with that was that I SUCK at driving. Now the controls arnt great and take a lot of getting used to but most of my blunders are because I'm just really sucky at controlling vehicles. Maybe I'll get better who knows. The worlds are beautiful of course I was having so much fun searching though them and throwing things with my wrench. It did make me sad that there wasnt a way to look around in third person though. I really dont like the fact that Kazooie isnt used very much though. I mean I understood why they took away most the moves but some of them just seemed stupid to take a away like the ability to flap to soften your fall. I kept doing that and felt empty when I would hear the sound of that bird. sad.gif

All in all I am really starting to enjoy the game and its crazy customizable game play. Yeah it isnt what any of us had wanted or what I wanted but I dont think thats any excuse not to play it, especially now that its so down in price. It really is a decent game and still hold alot of the Banjo Kazooie charm.
I'll write more the further I get into the game
Also I cant wait to play more Klungo Saves Teh World

p.s.
Did anyone else let out a squeal of happiness in their mind when they found the George ice-cubes in Banjoland?

Nice to see you enjoy playing the game Kara.
I assume you are missing a first person view as the game is in third person.
Good news: there is a first person view - just hold down the right stick for a second or so and you're there!
Kara Kong
=o Thank you Sabreman!

Banjo Land was definitely the best level (but considering I've only played about half of the game...)

I also completely forgot about Klungo Saves Teh World. xD I loved that. Took ages to beat though. Definitely worth it. smile.gif
Red the Rhino
The game suffers from GTA syndrome.

It's funner to just mess around than to do the missions.

plus, Ice Cubes = win

I'm new to the forums, but from what I read, you all love to read well written opinions on nuts and bolts which is what I intend on writing.

* Story *When i was young, i had loved mario 64, It was one of my favorite games. One day my brother went out and bought Banjo Kazooie, I had never heard of the series before and I spent hours watching him play, it just hypnotized me. After the struggle to beat the game when I was young, i had given up. But i bought banjo tooie, After myself actually playing this time, I had gotten very far, but eventually quit again (yes I'm a quitter) Anyway, in 2007 I had gone back and beaten Banjo Tooie but over that length of time I Had stopped playing it still remained my favorite game. Upon wanting to go back and beat Banjo kazooie I realized i lost the game lol. So I waited and Nuts and bolts released, I had waited years for this and I gave it a week, put it down. When BK released on XBL, I instantly bought it ending up spending days on end finally beating it. Then after some serious thought, I had picked up Nuts and bolts again, I had gotten fairly far this time and was starting to enjoy myself, but regardless of the endless vehicle combinations and vast levels it got very repetative to me and I had once again put it down, but I now had a new outlook on the game, but not entirely what I waited for.

REASON 1: I am a huge fan of games like Zelda, Mario and BK. I guess it's just those kind of games, with the mass adventures and the creative level designs. Playing Nuts and bolts, i didn't see the same i saw that some levels with Nuts and bolts were very creative, such as banjo land, i enjoyed that, but there just wasn't enough to do, sure you could explore but you always knew where to get a jiggy and there was always a challenge but not one i had recieved in the older games, if that makes any sense.

REASON 2: The abilities from BK and BT i thought were some of the most creative things ever added to the game, especially the clever split characters in Banjo Tooie, after playing nuts and bolts i had discovered that all your abilities were stripped and you would be riding from level to level in a from time to time updated trolly. That just didn't seem like a sequel to the game I fell in love with. ( btw if it's not a sequel as Banjo threeie would be please notify me ) Those Abilities were key to beating the game, like the sleeping trick in the old backpack banjo could do, and even Kazooie turning into a dragon, which was pretty bad ass.

REASON 3 AND THE FINAL(thank god right lol): The size's of the levels and the different acts. If i wanted to go back and get jiggies from banjo land in like 4 different acts, i'd rather play the same level without a vehicle and just go about an adventure collecting them. As well Grunty sitting right there in showdown town, If this was banjo Kazooie, the original platforming, you'd cap that ho.

I hope you took the time to read all of this, and as I am new to the forums I hope none of you dislike me from my "rant" But i felt there wasn't a bigger community I could spread my opinion on.

You know, I never really looked at it like that. You are 100% correct Oldschool. And thank you for the well thought out post, welcome to the forums.

While this game was good, it was not a true banjo game. If Rare was smart, they would be creating a BK3. Which is inevitable, the overwhelming disgruntled attitude of the fan base wills it. They cannot create a new Banjo with the same elements that N&B possessed, on such a massive scale at least. We all want a true banjo game, and believe me, we shall have one. Bear and Bird deserved so much better, though I applaud Rare's Effort at trying to be unique and deliver something different.

Alas, it just does not work. I imagine the game would of sold many more units had it been in the vain of the traditional platformer.

As well I agree with you 100%, I've personally never seen the sales that nuts and bolts had induced, but if they were anywhere near close it's from most people like me buying it on the release date because I had waited so long I didn't care what the trailers looked like. But now that nuts and bolts is now over a year old i believe, I think its time Rare sits down at predicts the future for the Banjo Series, I've never seen the end of Nuts and Bolts in the rare chance that I'd go back a third time to attempt again but is there any chance for a nuts and bolts sequel? I'd hope they'd read any reviews which most of them state, "I'd like them to mix both platforming and vehicles designs" That would be fun but the vehicle's I'm still on edge about. All and all, I enjoy these forums, beats the hell out of arguing with the kids who just started playing BK and played Nuts and bolts.

Well, as for BK's future, they will be racing with Sonic at some stage. Sound crazy? Well yeah, it is

Oh, and welcome to the forum's Oldschool. It's about time we got a new member who wasn't a complete troll. wink.gif

lol I discovered that the gameplay sequel to Banjo Tooie was actually Super Mario Galaxy. XD Seriously that game is often more like Banjo Kazooie than Super Mario 64.
