The Dorian
Wow can't believe no ones posted about this (then again no one posts here much anymore lately)

Thoughts everyone?

This is one of the finest games I've ever played....

I've been told it's great. You just reminded me I've yet to finish the first one tongue.gif I heard they stripped the inventory and RPG elements though, not sure in what way as I don't really want spoilers.. but I hope it's not too bad.

Then again every RPG by Bioware has been pure awesome.
Hudsons House of Whorrers
Finished it last night. Amazing game. SPOILERS FOLLOW:

I only lost Legion in the suicide mission Dorian. Who did you lose?

The game gets me Mass Erect, but it seems to lack the same depth the first one had. It also felt pretty short in comparison. I enjoyed getting it on with Tali though. Got the "No One Left Behind" achievement on the final mission... Wasn't hard at all; I can understand one, but I don't get how there are folks who lose the majority.

Hudson I did not lose anyone on my first run threw. I picked all the right people thankfully....

I'm doing a second playthrew though, renegade gonna see how many people I can kill off haha.

You can just not purchase one of the ship upgrades to screw everyone over.

My thoughts on the game (No spoilers yet):

I loved this game, gameplay wise, everything was brilliant. It felt like everything that the first one should have been. The combat was so much better this time around, it really felt like a hectic firefight, having all powers recharge at the same time kept you from hiding in a corner waiting for one of your powers to recharge hence slowing down the action. The hotkeys all worked really well too, which made it feel even more hectic. The only thing I didn't like about gameplay was planet scanning, you really shouldn't be spending hours of your playtime moving a cursor over planets firing probes at them, it got boring very, VERY quickly. Dialouge scenes were fixed too, no longer do we have to stand there completely still when we are talking, now the characters actually move around when we talk, like actual human beings, and the whole thing about taking renegade/paragon actions on quicktime events actually worked really well, its how a QTE should be done.

Oh and to everyone complaining that it isn't an RPG anymore, you are wrong. Getting rid of the inventory system doesn't stop it from being an RPG, it was useless anyways, if you are using the best gun, you have no reason to switch back to a crappy gun, same with every single piece of equipment in the inventory. Getting rid of that was a good step. You still make hard decisions that alter the rest of the game, you still level up and gain certain skills, just like the first one.

Now here are my complaints (spoilers now). The story just wasn't as good as the first one. In the first game, having to rise up as the underdog and prove to the galaxy that humanity was worthy was great. Both of the villains (Saren and Sovereign) were incredibly menacing villains that really seemed like a big threat and really made you want to take them down. The duo had the whole galaxy at stake and shepard was the only one who would take action. In the end, he stopped the reapers from killing every life form in the galaxy, and had a lead on to an epic sequel. This is how it should be done, the first game was very flawed, but if one thing was perfect, it was the story.

The second one while far superior, lacks in the story department. The collectors aren't the same menacing villians as the reapers were, and there is no real bad guy either (apart from that harbringer(sp?) guy, who we never find out much about, and see about 3 times during cutscenes). Also, the first game put you up to the task of saving the galaxy, while in the 2nd game, you are working for cerberus and are only concerned with protecting humans. I was very dissapointed, I expected a more epic story than this, in the first game, the whole galaxy is at stake, while in number 2, no more than a few human colonies are at risk.
In my opinion, they should have kept shepard fighting the reapers instead of bringing in the collectors as the new bad guys, the reapers were great villains and having them barely even mentioned in the second game was a real letdown. It was really obviously set up at the end of the first game that the reapers were still out there, sovereign was only a single one. So there was no excuse to replace them with some other ######ty bad guy in this game.

I can kind of see your complaint, I think Saren was pretty bad ass, and it sucked there was no one really to combat him, but if you think about it this is the middle of the series, the one where they set up the threat, (the harbigner who's going to be a MAJOR part of the third game)

And while there was a lack of villan how could you NOT love the story of the Illusive man...It was awesome, getting to see his little quircks, and again they could be setting him up as a major bad guy/part of ME3.

I didn't think the illusive man was that great. Sure he was a good character, but he wasn't anything more than a supporting character. I guess my major complaint is that they changed the villains from reapers to collectors. I can see what you are saying about ME2 being a setup for ME3, but it felt more like a side story to fill in time than it did a setup. There are endless things I could complain about the story, I just feel it wasn't as epic as the first. Speaking to Sovereign on Virmire in ME1 was incredible, he was so menacing and powerful, Harbringer never did anything except say the same 2 things over and over again ("assuming control" and "This will hurt you"). It just doesn't compare in my opinion.

Here is basically how I sum my opinion up

Sovereign = Uber evil robot bent on anhiallating all life forms in the galaxy
Harbringer = Evil alien bent on abducting a few human colonies
