They made their points clear. Conker, Riddick..the list goes on and on. Top quality Games that aren't on the Top Priority.

Great find.

I can't believe Steel Battalion wasn't brought up. Steel Battalion and the online expansions should be backwards compatible moreso than any other game for the Xbox. Those games were massive investments. $250 for two games is a lot of money, and right now my copy of steel battalion and the controller are just lying around collecting dust.

The only Rare Xbox game you can actually play is GBTG. Well done Microsoft.
Mech_Master
Grabbed by the Ghoulies came out before Conker so it's only fair that GBTG becomes backwards compatible first.

Too right. I mean like, why didn't Microsoft put the good games for BC? That's screwed up. I think they were on pot/crack/drunk at that moment. *Sighs* I guess you can't go back to the past and tell them to get the good games BC, can't you? wink.gif

The 360's half-assed backwards compatibility feature is just one of many points proving that the 360 was too much of a rushed release.

How is is half assed?

Well, if you're going to have a proper BC feature it should include just about every Xbox game out there.
SCARFACE
I agree-gree. PlayStation 2 has every PlayStation game playable on it. (It might just be me, but I don't remember hearing anything about the PS2 playing PS1 games before the release.
WIDOWMAKER409
Well I knew the list was F*** up when I saw That most of the games they got on the list is not good. If only they didn't rush the xbox 360, there would be a better cooling system and all the xbox game would be able to play on it.
Mech_Master
Apparently some of you don't know how backwards comptability works on the 360. It's not easy. They have to emulate each game individually which takes some time. I'm suprised how many games have been emuated already to tell you the truth.

Has anyone ever thought about as a markeeting ploy? Xbox 360=money, 360 games=Money, Old games that you may have bought 5 months prior are not making microsoft any richer right now... Ex: Far cry instincts/Evolution... niether of them are backwards compatible but Oh, Look there's Farcry predator for the 360? Wait it's the exact same game, just with better graphics... yeah. Ex2: Hmmmmmm... BF2 for the 360 , thats all I have to say for that game. If they keep the good games from being backwards compatible as long as they can they make more money when people have to go out and but the "360 games". If they already made every single good game BC at launch then they would've suffered from it because people most likely would've waited for Halo3 or Gears of war etc... instead they rush and buy Tiger woods golf.

"Oh yes, our system will have backwards compatibility with Xbox games"

.......

"But you also have to buy an Xbox LIVE subscription, and then actually wait months/years to get your favourite games on the list. Which by then some people will probably have paid 2 years worth of LIVE."

Correct. Also, some games are easier to make compatable than ohers depending on how they were optimized on the xbox and what the 360 is capable of emuating by default.

If I might, this is related to N64 emulation with an x86 processor. Rare's own Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, and Donkey Kong 64 are hard to emulate because of how they make use of the N64's hardware. Another game, Paper Mario, can't be emulated with the same method because of how it refreshes the screen on the N64. All other games made forthe system can be emulated flawlesly.

The xbox has more more-complicated specalized chips and hence it is much harder to emulate on different hardware. To add to it, the xbox's GPU (graphics processor) was designed and manufactured by nVidia. The 360 uses a chip made by ATI. Microsoft had to strike a deal with nVidia to get some of their stuff to ATI so that the 360's GPU could aid in emulating the xbox's. Point is, it's not that simple, despite anything microsoft might have said.
darkbanjo
Ajinryu, you know you can download it onto a CD, then put that on your Xbox? Or get a FREE Xbox Live Silver account and download it like that? Or you can make some sh!t up.

And why would MS postpone the launch of their console for however long to work on BC? It's not like everyone's rushing out to get a 360 because they want to play Halo is it?

Yeah, but they could have dedicated the time it took to make Barbies Horse Adventures and other tosh compatible and made decent games compatiable instead.
darkbanjo
Linkman: Tey didn't make Barbie Horse Adventures compatible, they made other games comaptible, and Barbie Horse Adventure worked as well.

I like how people troll the 360 with 'Barbie Horse Adventure LOL", but really just highlight their ignorance.

I know, I got that game last week. I'm stuck on the last level.

There isn't levels, it's just an adventure where you find out who kidnapped a certain horse from a big race.........I think i've said too much. ph34r.gif

Maybe that's why I'm stuck.

They could have made it compatable with every game, but that would require them to either cut down on the 360's capabilities to match some of the xbox's hardware or add additional hardware, raising the price. Although it was somewhat rushed to release I don't beleive more development time would help it's cause. Darkbanjo and Mech_Master are right, it's not the 360's main feature and it's amazing that it's there at all.

I saw Conker, so thats a win.
